Murine Eye Dissection

Murine eye dissection is a laboratory technique for carefully exposing and separating the structures of a mouse eye, making its anatomy accessible for biological study. Using fine instruments, researchers stabilize the small ocular tissue and remove surrounding tissues while preserving features such as the cornea, lens, retina, and optic nerve for examination. The dissected eye can then support microscopy, histological analysis, tissue preparation, and investigations of visual development, retinal organization, and ocular disease. As a practical model in biology, this technique connects gross anatomy with cellular and molecular research while providing hands-on training in precision dissection and tissue handling.
