Cancer Cell Injection

Cancer cell injection is a research technique that introduces viable cancer cells into a laboratory model to establish tumors and study cancer development. Researchers typically deliver cells into a defined anatomical site, where successful engraftment depends on cell viability, injection conditions, and interactions with the surrounding tissue; proliferating cells can then form tumors that reproduce selected features of disease. This approach supports investigations of tumor growth, invasion, metastasis, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment. It also provides controlled platforms for evaluating anticancer drugs, immunotherapies, and experimental treatment strategies, helping connect cellular mechanisms with measurable outcomes in cancer research.

Intracarotid Cancer Cell Injection to Produce Mouse Models of Brain Metastasis

Cited by 32 •

2017

Brain metastasis has become an urgent unmet medical need as its incidence has increased while therapeutic options have remained palliative. Creating experimental animal models of brain metastasis via intracarotid arterial injection of cancer cells facilitates mechanistic studies of the disease biology and evaluation of novel intervention regimens.

Intra-prostatic Injection of Cancer Cells: A Technique to Deliver Cancer Cells for Establishing Orthotopic Prostate Cancer Mouse Model

In this video, we demonstrate the procedure for administering intra-prostatic injection of prostate cancer cells into a mouse model. Orthotopic murine models can be used to study the disease origin and response to treatment therapies in a non-invasive and clinically relevant environment.

Intracecal Tumor Cell Injection: A Technique to Deliver Cancer Cells for Establishing Orthotopic Colorectal Cancer Mouse Model

The video describes the technique for intracecal injection of cancerous cells to develop an orthotopic mouse model with highly uniform tumors. Therefore, the orthotopic mouse model allows realistic simulation of metastasis, providing a valuable tool to study the phenotype changes during tumor growth and dissemination.

The video demonstrates the breast cancer orthotopic inoculation technique in a mouse model. This technique produces a high tumorigenesis rate with less variability in tumor size and shape compared to subcutaneous or non-surgical injection.

Intra-uterine Cancer Cell Injection: A Technique to Deliver Cancer Cells for Establishing Intra-peritoneal Ovarian Cancer Mouse Model
