Pet-raft

PET-RAFT, or photoinduced electron/energy transfer reversible addition–fragmentation chain-transfer polymerization, is a light-mediated method for producing polymers with controlled molecular architectures. In this process, a photocatalyst absorbs light and transfers energy or an electron to initiate radicals, while a chain-transfer agent reversibly regulates radical addition and fragmentation to limit uncontrolled growth. Chemists can use PET-RAFT to tune polymer molecular weight, composition, and functionality under relatively mild conditions. The method supports the synthesis of advanced materials for coatings, biomaterials, nanostructures, and responsive polymer systems, linking photochemistry with precision polymer design.

An in vitro method to mimic in vivo epithelial differentiation is described. Many viruses target epithelial cells as part of their viral life cycle, and this method provides a means of examining virus:host interactions that more closely resembles that which occurs in vivo. This technique can be used with primary keratinocytes, established cell lines, as well as normal or diseased biopsy tissue.

Facile and Efficient Preparation of Tri-component Fluorescent Glycopolymers via RAFT-controlled Polymerization

2015

An efficient, three-step synthesis of RAFT-based fluorescent glycopolymers, consisting of glycomonomer preparation, copolymerization, and post-modification, is demonstrated. This protocol can be used to prepare RAFT-based statistical glycopolymers with desired structures.

Determination of Lipid Raft Partitioning of Fluorescently-tagged Probes in Living Cells by Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS)

A technique to probe the lipid raft partitioning of fluorescent proteins at the plasma membrane of living cells is described. It takes advantage of the disparity in diffusion times of proteins located inside or outside of lipid rafts. Acquisition can be performed dynamically in control conditions or after drug addition.

This article provides comprehensive step-by-step instructions for the acquisition of whole-body 2-deoxy-2-(18F)fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG) PET/MRI scans for cancer staging of pediatric patients. The protocol was developed for children above 6 years, or old enough to comply with breath-hold instructions, but can be used for general anesthesia patients as well.
