Common Mode Rejection Ratio

Common Mode Rejection Ratio (CMRR) is a measure of how effectively a differential amplifier or measurement system rejects signals that appear simultaneously and with the same polarity at both inputs while amplifying their difference. The circuit compares the differential gain with the common-mode gain, and CMRR is commonly expressed in decibels as 20 log10 of their ratio; a higher value indicates better suppression of shared interference. In engineering, CMRR is essential for instrumentation amplifiers, sensor interfaces, and data-acquisition systems, where electromagnetic noise, ground fluctuations, or cable-coupled signals can affect low-level measurements. Improving CMRR enhances signal integrity and measurement accuracy.

Common Ion Effect

2020

Compared with pure water, the solubility of an ionic compound is less in aqueous solutions containing a common ion (one also produced by dissolution of the ionic compound). This is an example of a phenomenon known as the common ion effect, which is a consequence of the law of mass action that may be explained using Le Châtelier’s principle. Consider the dissolution of silver iodide: This solubility equilibrium may be shifted left by the addition of either silver(I) or iodide ions, resulting in...

What is a Mode?

2023

The mode is one of the commonly used measures of a central tendency. It is defined as the most frequent value in a data set. There can be more than one mode in a data set if multiple values have the same highest frequency. For instance, suppose that the Statistics exam scores of 20 students are: 50; 53; 59; 59; 63; 63; 72; 72; 72; 72; 72; 76; 78; 81; 83; 84; 84; 84; 90; 93. Here, the mode is 72, as it occurs most frequently, five times. A data set with two modes is called bimodal. For example,...

We describe a protocol for aortic interposition grafting in mice. The goal of the protocol is to provide a model with which to study pathological processes and therapeutic strategies relevant to alloimmune reactions in arteries and the resultant arterial changes that contribute to organ transplant failure.

Liquidity Ratios: Current Ratio

2024

Liquidity management involves strategically acquiring and using cash or near-cash resources, such as marketable securities, treasury bills, or short-term deposits, to ensure the company can meet its cash obligations as they come due. The current ratio, calculated by dividing current assets by current liabilities, is a valuable tool for evaluating a company's liquidity. Current assets are resources that can be quickly converted into cash, typically within a year. These include cash, cash...
