Data Extraction Process

Data extraction process is the systematic retrieval of useful information from structured or unstructured sources so it can be analyzed, stored, or reused in engineering work. It typically identifies relevant data in files, databases, documents, sensor records, or web-based systems, then uses parsing, field mapping, filtering, and validation to convert it into a consistent format while preserving essential meaning. In engineering, extracted data can support design analysis, simulation inputs, performance monitoring, quality control, and maintenance decisions. Reliable extraction improves traceability and reduces manual transcription, helping teams integrate information from multiple systems and make more consistent technical decisions.
