Electronic Waveform Manipulation

Electronic waveform manipulation is the controlled alteration of an electrical signal’s amplitude, frequency, phase, timing, or shape to encode information, improve signal quality, or control system behavior. Engineers perform it with analog circuits, digital signal processing, or mixed-signal hardware that filters, amplifies, attenuates, modulates, samples, or reconstructs signals according to defined electrical and timing conditions. In communications, instrumentation, audio, power electronics, and control systems, these operations enable data transmission, noise reduction, measurement, synchronization, and reliable feedback, while waveform analysis helps engineers evaluate distortion, bandwidth, stability, and overall system performance.

Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment as a Useful Adjunctive Tool for Pneumonia

2014

Pneumonia is one of the top ten leading causes of death in the U.S. Osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT) may be utilized as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of pneumonia to enhance biomechanical and immune function; and ultimately, to reduce hospital stay, duration of antibiotics, incidence of respiratory failure, and mortality. In this video-article, we will review randomized controlled studies on the use of OMT in pneumonia patients, as well as demonstrate specific hands-on...

Effective Value of a Periodic Waveform

2024

The concept of effective value, the root mean square (RMS) value, is crucial in understanding electrical circuits and power delivery. This idea emerges from the necessity to measure the effectiveness of a voltage or current source in supplying power to a resistive load. The effective value of a periodic current represents the direct current (DC) that conveys the same average power to a resistor as the periodic current itself. This concept is crucial when assessing AC circuits. To determine the...

Electron Carriers

2019

Electron carriers can be thought of as electron shuttles. These compounds can easily accept electrons (i.e., be reduced) or lose them (i.e., be oxidized). They play an essential role in energy production because cellular respiration is contingent on the flow of electrons. Over the many stages of cellular respiration, glucose breaks down into carbon dioxide and water. Electron carriers pick up electrons lost by glucose in these reactions, temporarily storing and releasing them into the electron...
