Resonant Cavity Dielectric Spectroscopy

Resonant cavity dielectric spectroscopy is a microwave technique for measuring the complex dielectric properties of materials, including permittivity and dielectric loss. It places a sample in an electromagnetic resonant cavity and determines how the sample changes the cavity’s resonant frequency and quality factor, or Q factor; these shifts reflect the material’s interaction with the microwave field. In engineering, the method supports noncontact or minimally invasive characterization of polymers, ceramics, composites, liquids, and other materials. Measurements can reveal composition, moisture content, conductivity-related losses, temperature-dependent behavior, and changes associated with processing or material degradation, supporting design, quality control, and research.

Source: Laboratory of Dr. Henrik Sundén – Chalmers University of Technology Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is a vital analysis technique for organic chemists. With the help of NMR, the work in the organic lab has been facilitated tremendously. Not only can it provide information about the structure of a molecule but also determine the content and purity of a sample. Compared with other commonly encountered techniques for organic chemists — such as thermal analysis and mass...

The manuscript describes a method of phonon-assisted quasi-resonant fluorescence spectroscopy that incorporates both laser-limited resolution and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. This method utilizes optical phonons to provide linewidth-limited resolution spectra of atom-like semiconductor structures in the energy domain. The method is also easily realized with a single spectrometer optical spectroscopy setup.

2013

A structured protocol is presented for a cell-based assay as a functional test to predict the prognosis of idiopathic scoliosis using cellular dielectric spectroscopy (CDS). The assay can be performed with fresh or frozen peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and the procedure is completed within 4 days.
