3d Ct Angiography

3D CT angiography is a noninvasive imaging technique that creates three-dimensional views of blood vessels and surrounding anatomy, helping clinicians evaluate vascular structure and disease. After iodinated contrast material enters the bloodstream, a CT scanner captures thin, rapid X-ray slices as the contrast outlines the vessels; computer reconstruction then combines these data into multiplanar and volumetric images. In medicine, 3D CT angiography supports the assessment of aneurysms, stenosis, occlusions, vascular malformations, and traumatic injuries. It also assists preoperative planning and treatment decisions by showing vessel relationships in detail, although contrast exposure and radiation dose require appropriate clinical consideration.

Source: Peiman Shahbeigi-Roodposhti and Sina Shahbazmohamadi, Biomedical Engineering Department, University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut It's a little-known fact that the discovery and (inadvertent) use of X-rays garnered the first ever Nobel Prize in Physics. The famous X-ray image of Dr. Röntgen's wife's hand from 1895 that sent shock waves through the scientific community looks like most modern day 2D medical X-ray images. Though it is not the newest technology, X-ray absorption...
