90 Day Readmission

90-day readmission is a healthcare quality measure that tracks whether a patient returns to the hospital within 90 days of an initial discharge, offering a broader view of recovery and post-acute care than shorter follow-up periods. It works by linking hospitalization records over a defined 90-day interval and distinguishing readmissions from the index hospitalization, often while accounting for diagnosis, comorbidities, and clinical risk. In medicine, this measure helps evaluate discharge planning, care transitions, treatment effectiveness, and access to follow-up services. Readmission data can guide targeted interventions, support health-system benchmarking, and identify patients who may benefit from closer monitoring after discharge.

Here, a protocol to isolate and establish primary fibroblast/myofibroblast (MF) cultures from frozen gastric, small intestinal, and colonic tissue-yielding cells with a MF phenotype-is presented. These cells express CD90, α-SMA and vimentin. MFs can be used for a variety of functional assays including enzymatic activity and cytokine production.

This video shows a procedure for isolating intact protoplasts from tissues of 14-day-old seedlings of Arabidopsis. Given that the isolated protoplasts remain intact for at least 96h and are isolated from seedlings instead of one-month-old mature plants, this procedure expedites assays requiring intact protoplasts.
