Acneiform Rash

Acneiform rash is a skin eruption that resembles acne, typically producing monomorphic follicular papules and pustules but often lacking the comedones characteristic of acne vulgaris. It develops when hair follicles become inflamed or obstructed, commonly in association with medications, infections, or occupational and environmental exposures. In medicine, recognizing the rash’s distribution, timing, symptoms, and absence of comedones helps distinguish its underlying cause from acne and other follicular disorders. Identifying and treating the trigger, while providing appropriate anti-inflammatory or antimicrobial care when indicated, can relieve lesions and prevent persistent irritation or scarring.
