Fibrillation-pacing Catheter

A fibrillation-pacing catheter is a specialized cardiac catheter that delivers controlled electrical stimulation to heart tissue, enabling researchers and clinicians to study abnormal rhythms and their treatment. After placement in a cardiac chamber, its electrode tip applies precisely timed or rapid pacing pulses that alter myocardial activation and refractory-wave patterns, potentially inducing, sustaining, or assessing fibrillation under a defined protocol. In medicine, this catheter supports electrophysiology studies, arrhythmia mapping, evaluation of pacing and defibrillation strategies, and testing of cardiovascular devices. By providing reproducible control over cardiac electrical activity, it helps clarify fibrillation mechanisms and improve approaches to rhythm diagnosis and management.

Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) with an ablation catheter is a curative treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF). Robotic catheter systems aim to improve catheter steerability. Here, a procedure with a new robotic catheter system is presented. The goal of the procedure is electrical block between pulmonary vein and left atrium.
