Herbal Combinations

Herbal combinations are medicinal preparations that contain two or more plant-derived substances selected or used together to produce a therapeutic effect. Their actions may arise from additive or synergistic effects among phytochemicals, while pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions can also alter absorption, metabolism, efficacy, or toxicity. In medicine, studying these combinations supports the evaluation of traditional formulas, multi-ingredient products, and complementary treatments, but requires careful attention to botanical identity, dose, extract quality, standardization, and interactions with conventional drugs. Rigorous chemical, pharmacological, and clinical assessment helps distinguish useful combinations from those with uncertain benefits or avoidable risks.
