Incomplete Partition

Incomplete partition is a congenital inner-ear malformation in which the cochlea develops with abnormal internal architecture rather than its typical spiral configuration. It results from disrupted embryologic formation of the cochlear turns and may produce characteristic patterns, including incomplete partition types I, II, or III, with varying separation of the cochlear chambers. High-resolution computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging help identify these structural changes and distinguish them from other labyrinthine anomalies. Accurate classification supports evaluation of hearing loss, counseling about cerebrospinal-fluid leak risk, and planning for cochlear implantation, making the diagnosis important in audiology, radiology, and otologic surgery.

Gregor Mendel's work (1822 - 1884) was primarily focused on pea plants. Through his initial experiments, he determined that every gene in a diploid cell has two variants called alleles inherited from each parent. He suggested that amongst these two alleles, one allele is dominant in character and the other recessive. The combination of alleles determines the phenotype of a gene in an organism. According to Mendel, organisms with both copies or a single copy of the dominant allele display a...

Here, we present a protocol to perform a quantitative analysis of the level of plasma-membrane association for fluorescently-tagged peripherally-associated protein. The method is based on the computational decomposition of membrane and cytoplasmic component of signal observed in cells labeled with plasma membrane fluorescent marker.

Extraction: Partition and Distribution Coefficients

The distribution law or Nernst's distribution law is the law that governs the distribution of a solute between two immiscible solvents. This law, also known as the partition law, states that if a solute is added to the mixture of two immiscible solvents at a constant temperature, the solute is distributed between the two solvents in such a way that the ratio of solute concentrations in the solvents remains constant at equilibrium. For extracting a solute from an aqueous phase into an organic...
