Surgical Stapler

A surgical stapler is a medical device that joins tissue or closes wounds by placing rows of staples, offering a consistent alternative to hand suturing in selected procedures. Depending on its design, the stapler compresses tissue and deploys metal or absorbable staples that form a secure closure while limiting the time tissue remains open. Surgical staplers are used in skin closure, gastrointestinal surgery, vascular procedures, and tissue resection, where they can support hemostasis and create wound or anastomotic connections. Proper device selection, tissue assessment, and placement are essential because outcomes depend on staple formation, tissue integrity, and accurate technique.
