Transoral Robotic Thyroidectomy

Transoral robotic thyroidectomy is a minimally invasive operation that removes part or all of the thyroid through the mouth, providing a remote-access alternative to a conventional neck incision. Surgeons create small openings in the lower oral vestibule, establish a working space, and use a robotic system with three-dimensional visualization and articulated instruments to dissect the thyroid while preserving nearby structures, including the recurrent laryngeal nerves and parathyroid glands. In appropriately selected patients with thyroid nodules, benign disease, or certain thyroid cancers, the technique can avoid a visible neck scar and support precise dissection, although careful patient selection and specialized expertise are essential.

Here, we present a protocol to describe the methodology for the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach in detail.

Lateral Molar Approach-Driven Transoral Endoscopic Procedure for Benign Infratemporal Fossa Tumor Resection

Here, we present a protocol to resect benign infratemporal fossa tumors via an endoscopic-assisted transoral lateral molar approach with low-temperature plasma ablation and intraoperative mandibular nerve monitoring. This minimally invasive technique prioritizes anatomical preservation, functional recovery, and avoidance of external scarring, demonstrating feasibility for well-demarcated lesions ≤4 cm in diameter.
