Chemiluminescence Quantification

Chemiluminescence quantification is an analytical method that measures light produced by a chemical reaction to estimate the amount or activity of a target substance. In a typical assay, a luminescent substrate reacts with an enzyme or reactive molecule, and a luminometer records emitted photons under calibrated conditions; signal intensity is then related to analyte concentration through standards or a calibration curve. In neuroscience, this approach supports measurement of luciferase reporter activity, ATP, reactive oxygen species, and other biochemical signals in neural cells or tissue samples. Its high sensitivity and low background can help monitor gene expression, cellular metabolism, and responses to neural injury or experimental treatments.

Invertebrate Lifespan Quantification

2023

Many animals naturally stop growing upon reaching adulthood, after which they undergo aging or "senescence" until dying. The amount of time between an organism\'s birth and death is called its lifespan, which can be influenced by various biological and environmental factors. By exposing organisms to different growth conditions, scientists can better understand the factors affecting lifespan. Flies and worms are ideal organisms to perform such experiments, given their short generation time and...
