Defense Tactics

Defense tactics are behavioral and physiological strategies that organisms use to detect, avoid, or withstand threats, making them an important subject in neuroscience and survival research. Neural systems process sensory cues associated with danger and recruit coordinated responses through circuits that regulate attention, movement, freezing, escape, and autonomic arousal. Studying these responses helps researchers connect brain activity with fear, stress, decision-making, and adaptive behavior. This work supports investigations of defensive behavior across species and can clarify how disruptions in threat processing contribute to anxiety, trauma-related conditions, and other neurological or psychiatric disorders.

(2020).This video demonstrates how cigarette smoke extract weakens antimicrobial defense in lung epithelial cells by reducing AMP production, leading to increased bacterial invasion. The procedure measures intracellular bacterial load to assess the impact of smoke exposure on host-pathogen interactions.
