Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach that examines how environmental conditions influence behavior and uses this knowledge to produce meaningful change. In psychology, practitioners identify relationships among antecedents, behaviors, and consequences, then collect data to evaluate strategies such as reinforcement, prompting, and shaping. ABA supports the development of communication, learning, social, and daily-living skills while reducing behaviors that interfere with participation or well-being. Its systematic, data-based methods are used in educational, clinical, organizational, and community settings, helping researchers and practitioners assess intervention effectiveness and tailor support to individual needs.

2016

An efficient and simple methodology for computer-based analysis of nematode swimming behavior in liquid is described. The method requires little to no investment for C. elegans laboratories. The hardware used is standard, and the computer software for the behavioral analysis (CeleST) is an open source one.
