Post-failure Performance

Post-failure performance refers to how a person’s behavior, motivation, and effectiveness change after experiencing an unsuccessful outcome. In psychology, these changes depend on processes such as emotional response, causal attribution, self-efficacy, and interpretation of feedback: viewing failure as informative and controllable can support renewed effort, whereas shame, helplessness, or attributing failure to fixed ability may reduce persistence. Studying post-failure performance helps researchers explain resilience, learning, goal pursuit, and individual differences in achievement. This topic also informs educational practice, workplace training, coaching, and interventions designed to turn setbacks into opportunities for improved future performance.

Here we present a murine model of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) failure in which a clinically relevant anastomotic configuration is incorporated. This model can be used to study the pathophysiology and to test possible therapeutic interventions.

Permanent Ligation of the Left Anterior Descending Coronary Artery in Mice: A Model of Post-myocardial Infarction Remodelling and Heart Failure

Heart failure is the leading cause of hospitalization and a major cause of mortality. A model of permanent ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery in mice is applied to investigate ventricular remodelling and cardiac dysfunction post-myocardial infarction. The technique of invasive hemodynamic measurements in mice is presented.
