Real World Applications

Real-world applications are the ways psychological theories, research findings, and methods are used to understand behavior and improve outcomes beyond the laboratory. In psychology, practitioners and researchers apply processes such as assessment, behavioral observation, cognitive analysis, and evidence-based intervention to identify influences on thought, emotion, and behavior, then evaluate whether targeted strategies produce meaningful change. These applications support mental health care, education, workplace practice, public health, criminal justice, and human-computer interaction. Studying their effectiveness also helps connect basic psychological science with practical decision-making, refine interventions for diverse populations, and address social and behavioral challenges in everyday life.

Real-World Applications of Space Curves

2026

Modern aerospace navigation depends on the accurate prediction of motion in three-dimensional space. In defense applications, radar systems continuously track both interceptors and moving aerial targets to find whether their flight paths will result in a collision. These motions are modeled mathematically as space curves, which represent paths that change continuously with time. Each object’s position is described by a vector function that specifies its location in terms of time-dependent...

Real-World Application of Classical Conditioning

2024

Classical conditioning not only includes the initial pairing of stimuli but also extends to more complex forms, such as higher-order conditioning. Higher-order conditioning involves creating associations beyond the primary conditioned stimulus, resulting in a chain of conditioned responses. Higher-order, or second-order, conditioning occurs when a neutral stimulus becomes associated with an already established conditioned stimulus through repeated pairings. For instance, if a dog has been...

The motion of a simple pendulum is governed by Newton’s Second Law in its rotational form, which relates the net torque on the bob to its angular acceleration. This physical law gives rise to a second-order differential equation in which the angular acceleration is proportional to the sine of the displacement angle.Because of the sin(𝜃) term, the governing equation is a nonlinear differential equation, which is difficult to solve analytically. To simplify the mathematical model, the sine...

Real-Life Applications of Multiple Integrals

2026

Multiple integrals provide a powerful mathematical framework for calculating physical quantities distributed throughout two- and three-dimensional regions. One important application is the determination of volume in objects with curved geometries, such as storage tanks, pipes, and reservoirs. Cylindrical coordinates are especially useful for systems with rotational symmetry because they simplify the description of circular and paraboloid-shaped regions.Consider a paraboloid-shaped water tank...

2017

This manuscript presents protocols for the application of novel genetically encoded nitric oxide (NO•) probes (geNOps) to monitor single cell NO• fluctuations in real-time using fluorescence microscopy. The Ca2+-triggered NO• formation on the level of individual endothelial cells was visualized by combining geNOps with a chemical Ca2+ sensor.
