This study addresses the challenges of RNA interference (RNAi) manipulation in the small parasitoid Trichogramma dendrolimi, a wasp species crucial for pest control in agriculture. An efficient RNAi method was developed, highlighting its potential as a valuable tool for gene regulation studies in Trichogramma wasps.

Trichogramma-Wespen sind eine Gruppe von Eiparasitoiden, die zur Bekämpfung von Lepidoptera-Schädlingen in der Landwirtschaft eingesetzt werden. Das intrazelluläre Bakterium Wolbachia induziert bei einigen Trichogramma-Wespen die lytokoöse Parthenogenese. Wir versuchen, den Mechanismus von Wolbachia und Geschlechtsbestimmungssystemen bei Trichogramma-Wespen zu beantworten.
Wir haben die RNA-Interferenzmethode bei Trichogramma-Wespen entwickelt. Diese Methode ist ein wichtiges genetisches Instrumentarium zur Untersuchung der Genfunktionen von Trichogramma. Die unreifen Stadien der Trichogramma-Nachkommen entwickeln sich im Wirtsei.
