Rapid Mix Method

The Rapid Mix Method is a technique for combining two or more solutions quickly and uniformly, allowing researchers to initiate and observe fast chemical or biochemical events with precise timing. It uses rapid fluid mixing to reduce concentration gradients and establish consistent reaction conditions, often by directing reactants together under controlled flow and volume conditions. In bioengineering, this approach supports studies of reaction kinetics, protein folding, biomolecular interactions, and the formation of engineered materials. By improving reproducibility and capturing early reaction stages, rapid mixing provides valuable insight into transient biological processes and helps optimize experimental and manufacturing workflows.

Mixed Costs Analysis Using the High-Low Method

2026

Mixed costs contain both fixed costs, which remain constant regardless of activity, and variable costs, which change with production or sales volume. One simple method for separating these costs is the high-low method. The high-low method estimates the variable and fixed portions of a mixed cost by using the highest and lowest activity levels during a given period. It assumes a linear relationship between cost and activity. The variable cost per unit is calculated by dividing the change in total...

High Throughput Microfluidic Rapid and Low Cost Prototyping Packaging Methods

2013

In this article we describe different techniques for microfluidic rapid prototyping platforms. The proposed techniques are based on ultraviolet (UV) sensitive and temperature curing epoxies, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) based tubing, wire-bonding, and anisotropic adhesive films. The assembling procedures presented are developed for both one-time use devices as well as reusable microfluidic systems.
