Liquid Phase Electrophoresis

Liquid phase electrophoresis is a separation technique that resolves charged molecules or particles as they migrate through a liquid medium under an applied electric field. Their electrophoretic mobility depends on factors such as net charge, molecular size, shape, buffer composition, and pH, allowing components to move at different rates toward oppositely charged electrodes. In biological techniques, the method supports the analysis and purification of proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules, often helping researchers assess sample composition, molecular properties, and purity. Its principles also inform related electrophoretic methods used in biochemical research, diagnostics, and biotechnology.

Liquid Phase Reactor: Sucrose Inversion

2023

Source: Kerry M. Dooley and Michael G. Benton, Department of Chemical Engineering, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA Both batch and continuous flow reactors are used in catalytic reactions. Packed beds, which use solid catalysts and a continuous flow, are the most common configuration. In the absence of an extensive recycle stream, such packed bed reactors are typically modeled as "plug flow". The other most common continuous reactor is a stirred tank, which is assumed to be perfectly...
