Keyword Co-occurrence

Keyword co-occurrence is a text-mining method that identifies relationships between terms by measuring how often they appear together within a defined body of literature. In cancer research, computational tools analyze articles, abstracts, or clinical records to construct co-occurrence networks, where linked terms can reveal shared topics, biological pathways, biomarkers, treatments, or disease characteristics. Researchers use these networks to map emerging research areas, connect findings across disciplines, identify knowledge gaps, and support systematic reviews. When combined with frequency measures and network analysis, keyword co-occurrence can clarify how concepts are related and highlight trends that may guide hypothesis generation and future cancer studies.

Infectious diseases appear in populations through various transmission patterns, influenced by pathogen characteristics, population immunity, environmental conditions, and social behavior. Understanding these patterns is essential for effective public health surveillance and intervention. These categories—sporadic, outbreak, epidemic, pandemic, and endemic—help frame the nature and scope of disease events.Sporadic diseases occur irregularly and infrequently, without a predictable temporal or...
