Polydimethylsiloxane Window

A polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) window is a transparent, elastomeric layer that provides optical access to cells or tissues in laboratory devices, making it useful for observing cancer biology in real time. Formed by curing PDMS and bonding it to a microfluidic or culture chamber, the window separates the experimental environment from the microscope while its flexibility and gas permeability support controlled cell culture. In cancer research, PDMS windows enable live imaging of tumor-cell growth, migration, invasion, and interactions with surrounding tissue or therapeutic compounds. These devices support reproducible tumor-on-chip models and connect microscopic behavior with treatment responses.

We demonstrate a storable, transportable lipid bilayer formation system. A lipid bilayer membrane can be formed within 1 hr with over 80% success rate when a frozen membrane precursor is brought to ambient temperature. This system will reduce laborious processes and expertise associated with ion channels.
