Excitation Frequencies

Excitation frequencies are the characteristic frequencies of electromagnetic radiation that supply the energy needed to move atoms, molecules, or other chemical systems from lower to higher energy states, making them central to spectroscopic analysis. When a photon’s energy, determined by its frequency, matches an allowed gap between electronic, vibrational, or rotational states, the system absorbs radiation and becomes excited; the resulting transition depends on molecular structure and environment. Measuring these frequencies helps identify substances, characterize bonds and molecular structure, and monitor chemical changes. In chemistry, excitation-frequency data support qualitative analysis, quantitative measurements, and studies of energy transfer and reaction behavior.

Nerve Excitability Assessment in Chemotherapy-induced Neurotoxicity

2012

This abstract describes a novel method to assess the development of neurotoxicity in patients receiving chemotherapy treatment. While conventional assessment methods are limited in their ability to detect early changes in nerve function, nerve excitability techniques provide early identification of patients at risk of severe neurotoxicity and insight into pathophysiology.
