Ftir Characterization

FTIR characterization is an analytical method that identifies chemical bonds and molecular structures by measuring how a sample absorbs infrared radiation. During analysis, infrared light passes through or reflects from the sample, and bonds absorb specific frequencies as they undergo vibrational motions such as stretching and bending; the resulting spectrum serves as a molecular fingerprint. In chemistry, researchers use FTIR to determine functional groups, confirm compound identity, assess sample purity, and monitor chemical reactions. The technique supports studies of organic and inorganic materials, polymers, pharmaceuticals, and reaction products, often requiring minimal sample preparation and providing rapid, nondestructive structural information.

Source: Ali Bazzi, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT. The objective of this experiment is to achieve hands-on experience with different magnetic components from design and material perspectives. This experiment covers B-H curves of magnetic material and inductor design through identifying unknown design factors. The B-H curve of a magnetic element, such as an inductor or transformer, is a characteristic of the magnetic material forming the core around...
