Everted Ring Technique

The Everted Ring Technique is a surgical method that joins the edges of a tubular or hollow tissue structure by turning the margins outward to form a continuous, aligned ring. A circumferential suture or securing device captures the everted edges, maintaining tissue apposition and creating a uniform connection while limiting uneven tension at the repair site. This approach can support anastomotic and reconstructive procedures in clinical surgery, where accurate alignment, secure closure, and preservation of the passage through the repaired structure are important for healing and function. Understanding the technique helps clinicians evaluate its indications, perform it consistently, and compare it with alternative methods of tissue approximation.

Measurement Accuracy The ability to repeat an experiment and get the same results, or reproducibility, is essential in scientific research. However, it’s impossible to repeat an experiment if you don’t know how you did it. Thus, scientists keep detailed records of their experiments in lab notebooks. These records include important information like the amount of each material used and descriptions of each step of the procedure. Equipment, like balances and volumetric or graduated glassware, is...

Zebrafish Microinjection Techniques

One of the major advantages to working with zebrafish (Danio rerio) is that their genetics can be easily manipulated by microinjection of early stage embryos. Using this technique, solutions containing genetic material or knockdown constructs are delivered into the blastomeres: the embryonic cells sitting atop the yolk of the newly fertilized egg. Delivery into the cytoplasm is achieved either through direct injection into the blastomere, or via natural cytoplasmic movements that occur after a...
