Bone Pose Validation

Bone pose validation is the process of assessing whether a measured or computationally estimated bone position and orientation accurately represent the underlying anatomy. It typically compares detected bone landmarks, joint angles, or three-dimensional poses with reference measurements, using alignment procedures and error metrics to identify displacement, rotation, or anatomically implausible configurations. In engineering, this validation supports the evaluation of motion-capture systems, medical imaging workflows, biomechanical models, and surgical planning tools. Reliable bone pose estimates improve confidence in simulation results, implant and device design, and quantitative studies of movement, while revealing systematic errors that require calibration or model refinement.

Reliability and Validity

Reliability and validity are two important considerations that must be made with any type of data collection. Reliability refers to the ability to consistently produce a given result. In the context of psychological research, this would mean that any instruments or tools used to collect data do so in consistent, reproducible ways. Unfortunately, being consistent in measurement does not necessarily mean that you have measured something correctly. To illustrate this concept, consider a kitchen...

Here we present a protocol for the dissection of hind limb long bones (femurs and tibiae) from the laboratory mouse. We further describe a rapid technique for bone marrow isolation from these bones that utilizes centrifugation for removal of bone marrow from the bone marrow space.

Bone Marrow Aspiration: A Method to Obtain Bone Marrow to Examine Cell Morphology

This video describes the technique of aspirating bone marrow from iliac spine and smear preparation for biopsy. In the example, we perform bone marrow aspiration from an acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient and examine the cells to check for measurable residual disease (MRD), an important prognostic biomarker.

Method validation is a crucial process in analytical chemistry designed to confirm that a given method consistently produces reliable and high-quality results. This process is essential when a method is applied to different sample matrices or when procedural modifications are made, ensuring that the results meet acceptable standards across various applications. Key parameters for method validation include: Specificity: The ability of the method to accurately measure the target analyte without...
