High Luminance Devices

High luminance devices are engineered light sources that produce intense visible or near-infrared emission from a compact area, enabling bright displays, illumination, and optical systems. In semiconductor devices such as light-emitting diodes and laser diodes, electrical carriers recombine in an active layer and release energy as photons; device geometry, current density, optical extraction, and thermal management determine the resulting brightness and efficiency. These devices support high-resolution displays, projection systems, automotive lighting, sensing, and communications. Engineering advances focus on increasing optical output while controlling heat, energy consumption, material degradation, and beam quality for reliable operation.

This protocol describes methods for purifying, quantitating, and characterizing extracellular vesicles (EVs)/exosomes from non-adherent/mesenchymal mammary epithelial cells and for using them to transfer mammary gland-forming ability to luminal mammary epithelial cells. EVs/exosomes derived from stem-like mammary epithelial cells can transfer this cell property to cells that ingest the EVs/exosomes.
