Bacterial Suspension Incubation

Bacterial suspension incubation is the controlled growth or maintenance of bacteria dispersed in a liquid medium, a foundational procedure for studying infection and immune responses. During incubation, cells use dissolved nutrients and multiply as temperature, aeration, mixing, and incubation time influence metabolic activity, population density, and physiological state. Researchers use standardized suspensions to prepare consistent inocula, examine bacterial growth, assess antimicrobial effects, and investigate interactions between microbes and immune cells. In immunology and infection research, controlling these conditions improves experimental reproducibility and helps connect bacterial physiology with outcomes such as inflammation, immune activation, and pathogen persistence.

Infecting Flies with Bacterial Suspension Using a Nanoinjector

2025

This video demonstrates the nano-injection of bacterial suspension into the fly body cavity, resulting in bacterial multiplication and infection. The fly's immune response clears some bacteria, while others escape immune clearance and survive within the host causing an infection.

Bacterial Endophthalmitis Mouse Model: A Method for Generating Bacterial Endophthalmitis via Intravitreal Injection of Bacterial Suspension into Eye of Mouse

2025

This video describes a method for generating a mouse model that mimics bacterial endophthalmitis – an intraocular infection resulting from a bacterial invasion into the eye’s vitreous cavity – via intravitreal injection of a bacterial suspension into the eye. This mouse model helps study the disease mechanism and evaluate therapeutics for it.

The tail-suspension test is validated as an experimental procedure to assess antidepressant efficacy of drug treatments in mice. Mice are suspended by their tails for six minutes and escape-related behaviors are assessed. We describe procedures used in conducting the tail suspension test.

ECM Suspension Preparation: A Technique to Obtain Homogenous Suspension from Tissue-derived Extracellular Matrix
