Partial Volume Correction

Partial volume correction is an image-processing method that reduces measurement errors caused when a voxel contains multiple tissues or structures, a common limitation in medical imaging. Because finite spatial resolution spreads activity or intensity across neighboring voxels, the measured value can underestimate small lesions and mix signals from adjacent regions; correction methods use scanner resolution, anatomical segmentation, and recovery coefficients or modeling to estimate the underlying signal. In positron emission tomography and single-photon emission computed tomography, partial volume correction improves quantitative estimates of tracer uptake, supports more accurate lesion assessment, and strengthens comparisons across patients, imaging systems, and treatment studies.

Distance Corrections

2025

To achieve precise distance measurements, especially in surveying and construction, certain corrections must be applied to account for potential sources of error like the standardization errors, temperature variations, and slope adjustments.Standardization error emerges when measurement equipment undergoes changes, such as wear, repairs, or weather impacts. To address this, surveyors compare the equipment’s readings to a standard. This process identifies any deviation that might lead to...

Power Factor Correction

The power transmission to a factory involves the transfer of apparent power, a combination of active and reactive power. The power factor measures how effectively electrical power is converted into useful work output. The ratio of the real power (KW) that does the work to the apparent power (KVA) supplied to the circuit. A poor power factor means the inductive electrical load absorbs more reactive power, causing a low lagging power factor. This results in large voltage drops across the load...

This protocol describes a robot-assisted partial splenectomy for a benign splenic tumor. The robotic approach optimizes spleen preservation by enhancing surgical precision, minimizing blood loss, and improving postoperative outcomes. Key surgical steps include meticulous splenic hilum dissection, selective vascular ligation, intraoperative ultrasonography, and controlled parenchymal transection.

The supply of type 2 diabetic islets for research is insufficient. Here we share our protocol for isolating islets from patients undergoing partial pancreatectomy. This approach represents a unique venue for obtaining islets from type 2 diabetic and clinically matched non-diabetic subjects in adequate numbers for basic and clinical studies.
