Three-dimensional Tracking

Three-dimensional tracking is a method for measuring the position and movement of objects within three-dimensional space, making it valuable for observing anatomy, instruments, and patient motion in medicine. The process typically combines cameras or other sensors with feature detection, coordinate mapping, and triangulation to estimate an object’s location over time, while software links successive measurements into a movement trajectory. Medical researchers and clinicians use three-dimensional tracking for surgical navigation, biomechanics, rehabilitation assessment, medical imaging, and monitoring the motion of devices or anatomical structures. These measurements can improve spatial accuracy, quantify movement, and support safer procedures and more personalized care.
