Cereal Eating Test

The Cereal Eating Test is a behavioral assay that measures feeding in animals by recording how readily and how much cereal they consume, providing a simple readout of ingestive behavior in neuroscience research. During the test, researchers present a standardized cereal portion under controlled conditions and quantify variables such as eating latency, consumption, and feeding duration, which can reflect changes in motivation, appetite, or motor function. The assay helps evaluate how neural circuits, pharmacological treatments, genetic manipulations, or physiological states influence feeding behavior. Its straightforward design supports comparisons across studies of appetite regulation, reward, and disorders affecting eating.

2025

Binge eating disorder is a significant mental health condition characterized by recurrent episodes of excessive food consumption within a short period, accompanied by a perceived loss of control over eating behavior. Unlike occasional overeating, binge eating disorder is marked by distressing emotions such as guilt, shame, and anxiety following binge episodes. The disorder affects individuals across different ages and backgrounds, with profound implications for physical and psychological...

Obtaining High-Quality Transcriptome Data from Cereal Seeds by a Modified Method for Gene Expression Profiling

2020

A method for transcriptome profiling of cereals is presented. The microarray-based gene expression profiling starts with the isolation of high-quality total RNA from cereal grains and continues with the generation of cDNA. After cRNA labelling and microarray hybridization, recommendations are given for signal detection and quality control.
