Mitotracker Deep Red

MitoTracker Deep Red is a cell-permeant fluorescent dye used to label mitochondria and visualize their distribution, morphology, and dynamics in living cells. The dye accumulates preferentially in mitochondria with an intact membrane potential, while its reactive chloromethyl group helps retain the fluorescent signal within mitochondrial structures after staining. In neuroscience, it supports imaging of mitochondrial transport along axons and dendrites, localization in neuronal cell bodies and synapses, and changes associated with cellular stress or injury. Combined with fluorescence microscopy and other neuronal markers, MitoTracker Deep Red helps researchers relate mitochondrial organization and activity to energy supply, neurodegeneration, and neuronal function.

Red Algae

2025

Red algae, also known as rhodophytes, are primarily found in marine environments, though some species inhabit freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems. These organisms exist in both unicellular and multicellular forms, with some multicellular varieties reaching macroscopic sizes. As phototrophic organisms, red algae contain chlorophyll a; however, their chloroplasts lack chlorophyll b. Instead, they possess phycobiliproteins, which serve as major light-harvesting pigments, similar to those found in...

Right-angle microprisms inserted into the mouse neocortex allows for deep imaging of multiple cortical layers with a viewpoint typically found in slice. One-millimeter microprisms offer a wide field-of-view (~900 μm) and spatial resolutions sufficient to resolve dendritic spines. We demonstrate layer V neuronal imaging and neocortical vascular imaging using microprisms.
