Functional Groups

Les groupes fonctionnels sont des ensembles d'atomes liés de manière covalente qui affectent les propriétés d'une molécule. Les molécules contenant souvent les mêmes groupes fonctionnels présentent des propriétés similaires et subissent des réactions similaires. Nommer les groupes fonctionnels permet une identification rapide des atomes d'une molécule, qui est utile en chimie organique et biochimie.Les hydrocarbures sont à la base des molécules organiques et contiennent des nombres variables d'atomes de carbone et d'hydrogène. Ceux-ci comprennent les alcanes, les alcènes et les alcynes. Les atomes de carbone des alcanes sont liés entre eux par liaisons simples, alors que les alcènes et les alcynes contiennent liaisons doubles ou triples, respectivement.Les hydrocarbures peuvent former des anneaux fermés. Si l'anneau ne contient que des liaisons simples, cela s'appelle un cycloalcane. Les acides aminés ont également un autre groupe fonctionnel commun appelé un groupe amine ou amino.Une amine a un azote avec une paire isolée lié à une combinaison d'hydrogènes et de groupes R.Les acides aminés sont les éléments constitutifs des protéines. Un groupe phosphate est un phosphore lié à quatre oxygènes et se trouve couramment dans l'ADN, le matériel génétique de tous les organismes vivants. Il peut également être attaché à des protéines pour modifier leur fonction.

Chaque groupe fonctionnel est un arrangement unique d'atomes et se voit attribuer un nom pour la combinaison des atomes qui composent le groupe. Tous ces composés contiennent des atomes de carbone oxydés par rapport à l'atome de carbone d'un groupe alcool. Amines L'ajout d'azote dans une charpente organique conduit à deux familles de molécules. Les composés contenant un atome d'azote lié dans une charpente hydrocarbonée sont classés comme des amines. Functional groups are the parts of organic molecules that give them specific chemical behavior. They help determine how a compound reacts and what properties it has. In organic chemistry, these groups are used to classify molecules in a clear way.

Hydrocarbons are one common class of organic compounds. They contain only carbon and hydrogen. Alcohols, aldehydes, and ketones are other classes that are identified by their functional groups. These groups make each class behave differently from the others.

Knowing functional groups helps students recognize related compounds and compare their structures. It also provides a simple way to organize many organic molecules into meaningful groups. That makes functional groups an important part of high school chemistry.
