Nomenclature of Aryl and Heterocyclic Amines

La phénylamine, l’arylamine la plus simple, et ses dérivés sont connus sous leurs noms communs, avec les préfixes o-, m- et p- utilisés pour indiquer le point de substitution.
La nomenclature systématique les désigne comme des dérivés de l’aniline. Le cycle est numéroté à partir de l’atome de carbone portant le groupe –NH2 et continue dans la direction pour donner le point de chute le plus bas au substituant.
Pour plus d’arylamines substituées, le premier point de différence se voit attribuer le locant le plus bas, et les substituants sont répertoriés par ordre alphabétique.
Les arylamines secondaires et tertiaires sont appelées anilines N-substituées.
Les amines hétérocycliques saturées et insaturées ont des noms spécifiques basés sur la taille de l’anneau et les hétéroatomes présents.
La numérotation commence à l’atome N ou à l’hétéroatome ayant le poids atomique le plus élevé et se poursuit dans la direction pour donner le point de position le plus bas à l’autre hétéroatome.
Alternativement, les préfixes aza ou diaza, ainsi que les localisants, indiquent le nombre d’atomes N dans l’anneau.

L'amine aromatique la plus simple est la phénylamine, qui contient une fonctionnalité –NH2 directement attachée à un cycle aromatique. Le nom aniline est désigné pour ce squelette. Comme le montre la figure 1, les noms communs des anilines fonctionnalisées impliquent les préfixes ortho-, méta- et para- pour indiquer la position de substitution. Différents dérivés d'aniline fonctionnalisés portent également des noms triviaux notables.

Pour la nomenclature systématique, l'anneau est numéroté à partir du carbone azoté dans la direction qui donne le localisant le plus bas au substituant. L'ordre de numérotation consiste à obtenir le nombre le plus bas pour le premier point de différence dans le cas des amines ayant plus d'un substituant sur le cycle. Comme illustré sur la figure 2, les substituants sont classés par ordre alphabétique. Alternativement, ils sont également appelés dérivés de la benzénamine.

Les amines aromatiques secondaires et tertiaires portent le nom des amines primaires parentales avec des substitutions N préfixant le nom parent de l'amine, comme présenté dans la figure 3.

Les amines hétérocycliques saturées et insaturées, où N fait partie de l'hétérocycle, portent des noms spécifiques basés sur la taille du cycle et les hétéroatomes. La figure 4 présente quelques amines biologiques connues sous leurs noms communs : pyrrolidine, pyrrole, pipéridine, pyridine et imidazole.

Pour la nomenclature des amines hétérocycliques, la numérotation commence à l'hétéroatome ayant un poids atomique plus élevé pour les amines contenant d'autres hétéroatomes en plus de N. Par exemple, comme illustré sur la figure 5, le soufre dans le thiazole est numéroté un et continue dans le sens pour donner la numérotation la plus basse à l’autre hétéroatome, l’azote. Une observation similaire est notée en présence d'oxygène dans la morpholine.

Alternativement, les préfixes aza- ou diaza-, ainsi que le numéro de localisant pour indiquer le nombre de carbones remplacés par l'atome d'azote, sont utilisés avant l'alcane parent. Ceci est plus courant dans la nomenclature d'un système bicyclique lorsque l'atome N fait partie d'un système à anneaux fusionnés, comme dans DBU et DBN, comme le montre la figure 6.

Naming aniline and ring amine derivatives follows clear rules for aromatic and heterocyclic amines. The simplest aromatic amine is phenylamine, which has an –NH2 group directly attached to an aromatic ring. The common name for this skeleton is aniline.

Functionalized anilines often use the prefixes ortho-, meta-, and para- to show where a substituent is placed on the ring. Many of these compounds also have trivial, or common, names. For systematic naming, the ring is numbered from the carbon attached to nitrogen. Numbering then continues in the direction that gives the lowest locant to the next substituent, and substituents are listed in alphabetical order. These compounds may also be named as benzenamine derivatives.

Secondary and tertiary aromatic amines are named from the parent primary amine. In these names, N-substituents are written before the parent amine name. This shows which groups are attached to the nitrogen atom itself.

Heterocyclic amines also have specific names. These compounds contain nitrogen as part of the ring, and they may be saturated or unsaturated. Common biological examples include pyrrolidine, pyrrole, piperidine, pyridine, and imidazole.

When a heterocycle contains more than one heteroatom, numbering starts at the heteroatom with the higher atomic weight. The numbering then continues in the direction that gives the other heteroatom the lowest possible number. For example, sulfur is numbered first in thiazole, and oxygen is numbered first in morpholine.

Another naming style uses the prefixes aza- or diaza-. These prefixes show how many carbons in the parent alkane are replaced by nitrogen atoms, and the locant number gives the nitrogen position. This approach is often used for bicyclic fused ring systems, such as DBU and DBN.
