Body Planes

Le corps humain peut être divisé à l’aide de lignes et de plans imaginaires pour aider à comprendre son organisation interne.
Lorsque le corps est droit, une ligne droite appelée axe vertical est utilisée comme référence claire et cohérente pour orienter l’emplacement des parties du corps et la direction du mouvement.

Le plan frontal ou coronal divise le corps en parties antérieure et postérieure.
Le plan sagittal divise le corps verticalement en côtés droit et gauche.
La division égale du corps par la ligne médiane entraîne des sections médio-sagittales. En revanche, la coupe à travers le plan parasagittal entraîne des côtés inégaux.
Le plan transversal, perpendiculaire aux plans frontal et sagittal, divise le corps horizontalement en régions supérieures et inférieures.

Les plans corporels en anatomie sont des surfaces plates imaginaires utilisées comme points de référence pour diviser le corps en sections dans le cadre d'études anatomiques. Ces plans sont essentiels pour comprendre l'orientation, les relations et l'organisation spatiale des structures anatomiques. Le plan sagittal est le plan qui divise le corps ou un organe verticalement en côtés droit et gauche. Si ce plan vertical passe directement au milieu du corps, ce qui donne une division égale, il est appelé plan sagittal médian. S'il divise le corps en côtés droit et gauche inégaux, il est appelé plan parasagittal ou, plus rarement, section longitudinale. Le plan frontal est le plan qui divise le corps ou un organe en une partie antérieure (avant) et une partie postérieure (arrière). Le plan frontal est souvent appelé plan coronal. (« Corona » signifie « couronne » en latin.) « Coronal » se réfère généralement aux sections du crâne. Le plan transversal est le plan horizontal qui divise le corps ou un organe horizontalement en parties supérieure et inférieure. Les plans transversaux produisent des images appelées sections transversales. Les sections obliques sont des coupes diagonales entre les plans horizontal et vertical, mais elles sont difficiles à interpréter. Applications Les techniques d'imagerie telles que l'échographie, la tomodensitométrie ou l'IRM permettent d'obtenir différentes images d'un patient en position anatomique standard et de créer un axe X-Y-Z autour du patient pour appliquer les plans corporels aux images obtenues. Anatomy sections and body planes are imaginary flat surfaces used to divide the body for study. They help show the orientation, relationships, and spatial layout of anatomical structures. These reference planes are also useful for describing organs and body parts in a standard way.

The sagittal plane divides the body or an organ vertically into right and left sides. When that cut goes through the middle and makes equal halves, it is called the midsagittal or median plane. When it makes unequal right and left sides, it is called a parasagittal plane, and it may also be called a longitudinal section.

The frontal plane divides the body or an organ into anterior and posterior parts. The anterior side is the front, and the posterior side is the rear. This plane is also called the coronal plane. The word coronal comes from the Latin word for crown. In anatomy, coronal usually refers to skull sections.

The transverse plane is a horizontal plane that divides the body or an organ into upper and lower parts. Cuts made in this plane are called cross sections. Oblique sections are diagonal cuts between the horizontal and vertical planes, and they can be harder to interpret.

Body planes are also used in medical imaging. Sonography, computed tomography, and MRI create images of a patient in standard anatomical position and build an X-Y-Z axis around the body. The same planes can also divide individual organs to help identify smaller internal details.

These planes also help describe body movement. An anatomist can use them to model a limb’s range of motion by measuring which planes it moves through and how far it travels. Body planes are also used to describe changes during embryological development. For example, in human embryonic development, the coronal plane is horizontal at first and becomes vertical as the embryo develops into a fetus.
