Anatomical Movements

Les mouvements anatomiques décrivent le mouvement des os et des muscles en référence à la position anatomique standard. Ces mouvements s’associent souvent à un mouvement complémentaire dans la direction opposée.  
De nombreux mouvements se déplacent le long des plans anatomiques frontal, sagittal ou transversal.
Les mouvements du plan frontal se produisent vers ou loin de la ligne médiane du corps, comme lever les bras au niveau des épaules latéralement et ramener les bras sur le côté du corps.
Les mouvements du plan sagittal se déplacent entre les côtés antérieur et postérieur d'une personne, comme le déplacement du bras vers l'avant et vers l'arrière pendant la marche.
Les mouvements du plan transversal comprennent la rotation et la torsion, comme tourner la tête d’un côté à l’autre.

Les mouvements anatomiques font référence aux différentes actions ou mouvements pouvant être effectués par les articulations et les muscles du corps. Ces mouvements sont décrits à l'aide de termes spécifiques afin de fournir une manière standardisée de discuter et de comprendre l'amplitude des mouvements au niveau des différentes articulations. Voici quelques mouvements anatomiques courants : Les mouvements de flexion et d'extension se font dans le plan sagittal (antéro-postérieur). Ces mouvements se produisent au niveau de l'épaule, de la hanche, du coude, du genou, du poignet, des articulations métacarpophalangiennes, métatarso-phalangiennes et interphalangiennes. La flexion est la courbure antérieure de la tête ou de la colonne vertébrale, tandis que tout mouvement allant vers l'arrière est une extension. Il s'agit de l'alignement ou de l'augmentation de l'angle entre deux parties du corps. Par exemple, redresser le coude ou tendre la jambe droite sont des exemples d'extension. L'abduction et l'adduction sont des mouvements des membres, des mains, des doigts ou des orteils dans le plan coronal (médial-latéral). Déplacer un membre ou une main latéralement loin du corps, ou écarter les doigts ou les orteils, correspond à une abduction. L'adduction ramène le membre ou la main vers ou à travers la ligne médiane du corps, ou rapproche les doigts ou les orteils. La circumduction est le mouvement du membre, de la main ou des doigts selon un modèle circulaire, en utilisant la combinaison séquentielle de mouvements de flexion, d'adduction, d'extension et d'abduction. L'adduction/abduction et la circumduction ont lieu au niveau de l'épaule, de la hanche, du poignet, des articulations métacarpophalangiennes et métatarsophalangiennes. La rotation du cou et du corps dans le plan transversal correspond à des mouvements de torsion causés par de nombreux petits mouvements de rotation des vertèbres adjacentes. Tourner la tête de côté à l'autre ou tordre le corps est une rotation. La rotation médiale et latérale du membre supérieur au niveau de l'épaule ou du membre inférieur au niveau de la hanche consiste à tourner la surface antérieure du membre vers la ligne médiane du corps (rotation médiale ou interne) ou à l'éloigner de la ligne médiane (rotation latérale ou externe).

Body joint motion terms describe how bones and muscles move at different joints. These standard names make it easier to talk about range of motion in the body. They are used to describe actions at the shoulder, hip, elbow, knee, wrist, fingers, toes, and spine.

Flexion and extension are movements in the sagittal plane, also called the anterior-posterior plane. Flexion is the forward bending motion of the head or vertebral column. Extension is the backward movement or straightening of a joint, which increases the angle between two body parts. Examples include straightening the elbow or extending the leg.

Abduction and adduction happen in the coronal plane, also called the medial-lateral plane. Abduction moves a limb, hand, finger, or toe away from the body’s midline. It also includes spreading the fingers or toes. Adduction brings the limb, hand, fingers, or toes back toward the midline or together.

Circumduction is a circular movement of a limb, hand, or finger. It combines flexion, adduction, extension, and abduction in sequence. This motion can occur at the shoulder, hip, wrist, metacarpophalangeal joints, and metatarsophalangeal joints.

Rotation is a twisting movement in the transverse plane. Neck and body rotation come from many small rotational movements between nearby vertebrae. Turning the head from side to side is one example.

Medial and lateral rotation also occur at the shoulder and hip. In medial, or internal, rotation, the front of the limb turns toward the body’s midline. In lateral, or external, rotation, the front of the limb turns away from the midline.
