Microrna Expression Analysis

MicroRNA expression analysis is the measurement of small, noncoding RNA molecules across cells, tissues, or biological conditions to determine how gene regulation changes. Because microRNAs bind complementary sequences in target messenger RNAs, they can promote transcript degradation or inhibit translation, and their abundance can be assessed by RNA isolation followed by reverse transcription and quantitative PCR, microarray hybridization, or sequencing. Comparing expression profiles between healthy and diseased samples helps identify regulatory networks, biomarkers, and pathways associated with development, stress, and disease. These analyses support studies of cellular function and may guide diagnostic or therapeutic research.
