Low Cost Micro Patterning

Low cost micro patterning is the fabrication of controlled features at micrometer scales using accessible materials, equipment, and simplified processing methods, making microscale engineering more affordable and adaptable. Instead of relying exclusively on advanced cleanroom lithography, these approaches can use physical masks, stamps, molds, or direct deposition and etching to transfer patterns onto a substrate with defined geometry. The resulting structures support rapid prototyping of sensors, microfluidic devices, flexible electronics, and surface-engineered materials. By reducing fabrication expense and equipment requirements, low cost micro patterning broadens access to microscale manufacturing, supports education and small-scale research, and enables iterative device development.

2012

A micropunching lithography approach is developed to generate micro- and submicron-patterns on top, sidewall and bottom surfaces of polymer substrates. It overcomes the obstacles of patterning conducting polymers and generating sidewall patterns. This method allows rapid fabrication of multiple features and is free of aggressive chemistry.

A fast and inexpensive method for the behavioral determination of hearing parameters like hearing thresholds, hearing impairments or phantom perceptions (subjective tinnitus) is described. It uses pre-pulse inhibition of the acoustic startle response and can be easily implemented in a personal computer using a programmable AD/DA-converter and a piezo sensor.
