Hodgkin Reed-sternberg Cells

Hodgkin-Reed–Sternberg (HRS) cells are the distinctive malignant cells of classical Hodgkin lymphoma, making them important targets for studying how altered genetics reshape immune-cell biology. They arise from germinal-center B cells that have lost normal B-cell gene-expression programs and commonly depend on constitutive NF-κB and JAK/STAT signaling, which promotes survival, proliferation, and inflammatory communication with surrounding cells. Their unusual combination of sparse tumor cells and abundant reactive immune cells complicates genomic analysis and diagnostic interpretation. Studying HRS-cell mutations, copy-number changes, and signaling pathways supports lymphoma classification, biomarker development, and investigation of targeted therapies.

Sternberg's Triangular Theory of Love

2020

We typically love the people with whom we form relationships, but the type of love we have for our family, friends, and lovers differs. Robert Sternberg (1986) proposed that there are three components of love: intimacy, passion, and commitment. These three components form a triangle that defines multiple types of love: this is known as Sternberg’s triangular theory of love. Intimacy is the sharing of details and intimate thoughts and emotions. Passion is the physical attraction—the flame in the...

A simple, inexpensive, and effective method of preparing Drosophila embryos for live-imaging analysis is presented. Our protocol provides humidity and gas exchange and does not compress the Drosophila embryo. This method is suitable for GFP-based live imaging of Drosophila embryos using a stereomicroscope or upright compound microscope.
