3d Landmark Annotation

3D landmark annotation is the process of identifying anatomically meaningful points on three-dimensional medical images or models and recording their spatial coordinates. Annotators place landmarks on structures represented by imaging data or surface meshes, either manually or with computational assistance, to create standardized geometric references for analysis. In medicine, these annotations support anatomical measurement, image registration, shape analysis, surgical planning, and the development or validation of computer-assisted diagnostic systems. Consistent landmark placement can improve comparisons across patients and imaging studies, helping researchers quantify anatomical variation and assess changes associated with disease, treatment, or growth.

Genome Annotation and Assembly

2021

The genome refers to all of the genetic material in an organism. It can range from a few million base pairs in microbial cells to several billion base pairs in many eukaryotic organisms. Genome assembly refers to the process of taking the DNA sequencing data and putting it all back together in a correct order to create a close representation of the original genome. This is followed by the identification of functional elements on the newly assembled genome, a process called genome annotation.
