Conjunctival Incision

A conjunctival incision is a controlled surgical cut through the conjunctiva, the thin mucous membrane covering the eye’s surface and inner eyelids, to provide access to underlying ocular tissues. Surgeons typically create the incision with a scalpel or fine scissors, then retract or dissect the tissue while protecting the sclera, extraocular muscles, and nearby structures; the site may be closed with sutures or allowed to heal depending on the procedure. This technique supports access during ophthalmic operations, including strabismus repair, glaucoma surgery, and procedures involving the sclera or orbit. Careful placement and tissue handling can improve exposure while limiting bleeding, inflammation, scarring, and postoperative discomfort.

Carpal tunnel decompression with transverse carpal ligament transection is a very successful treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. The standard long-curved incision technique has become the best treatment for median nerve entrapment decompression. Here we introduce the metacarpal small incision carpal tunnel release (MSICTR) in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS).
