Image Cytometer Analysis

Image cytometer analysis is a quantitative microscopy technique that captures images of individual cells or particles and measures their morphological and fluorescence features. The system uses controlled illumination, image acquisition, and software-based segmentation to identify objects, separate them from background, and calculate parameters such as size, shape, intensity, and marker expression. In medicine, these measurements support cell classification, phenotyping, disease characterization, and assessment of treatment responses. By combining visual information with numerical analysis, image cytometry helps researchers examine heterogeneous cell populations while retaining spatial and structural details that conventional bulk assays may not provide.

2019

Here, we describe a complete workflow for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of immune synapses between primary human T cells and antigen-presenting cells. The method is based on imaging flow cytometry, which allows the acquisition and evaluation of several thousand cell images within a relatively short period of time.
