Logistic Growth Model

The Logistic Growth Model is a mathematical framework that describes how a population grows rapidly when resources are abundant and slows as environmental limits are approached. It combines density-independent increase with density-dependent regulation, producing an S-shaped curve in which the growth rate declines as population size nears the environment’s carrying capacity. In biology, researchers use the model to analyze population dynamics, estimate sustainable population sizes, and interpret competition for limited resources. Comparing model predictions with observed abundance can also reveal when additional factors, such as predation, disease, or changing habitat conditions, influence population growth.

Exponential Population Growth Model ExpandNOTE: In these experiments you will use computer software to simulate different types of growth models. HYPOTHESES: The experimental hypothesis might be that if we increase either R, the reproductive rate or the initial population size, NT, that this will increase the population size after 10 generations in an exponential growth model compared to unmanipulated control populations. The null hypothesis may be that populations of different R and initial...

Population Models An ecological population is a group of individuals of a single species living in an area at the same time. To persist, a population must either grow or maintain its size. Population ecology is the study of how population size and age distribution change over time through interactions with other species and the environment as well as with individuals of their own species. A particularly important feature that is studied by ecologists is the rate at which a population grows or...

Distribution, Logistics and Supply Chain

Distribution channels, logistics, and supply chains play vital roles within a distribution network and are interrelated in many ways. Each component ensures that goods are moved effectively and efficiently from the point of production to the end consumer, adding value to the customers, manufacturers, and the delivery network. Distribution Channels are the pathways through which goods and services flow from producers to consumers. They can be direct (from producer to consumer) or indirect...

The growth plate is a cartilaginous region in children's long bones where longitudinal growth occurs. When injured, bony tissue can form and impair growth. We describe a rat model of growth plate injury that leads to bony repair tissue, allowing the study of repair mechanisms and growth plate regeneration strategies.
