Therapeutic Virus Production

Therapeutic virus production is the controlled manufacture of viruses used to treat disease, including viral vectors for gene delivery and oncolytic viruses designed to target cancer cells. The process introduces a defined viral genome into suitable host cells, where the cells support virus replication or assemble vector particles before the product is harvested, purified, and tested for identity, potency, purity, and safety. Reliable production requires optimized cell culture conditions and process control to achieve consistent yields while limiting contaminants and defective particles. These methods support gene therapy, cancer research, and the development of scalable treatments that can deliver therapeutic genes or selectively destroy diseased cells.
