Podocyte Induction Medium

Podocyte Induction Medium is a specialized cell-culture formulation used to promote the differentiation and maturation of precursor cells into podocytes, highly specialized cells that help maintain the kidney filtration barrier. Its controlled nutrients and signaling cues drive podocyte-specific gene expression, cytoskeletal remodeling, and development of structural features such as foot processes and slit-diaphragm components. In cancer research, induced podocytes can support studies of renal tumor biology, kidney injury, and interactions between cancer cells and the glomerular microenvironment. This model also enables assessment of disease mechanisms, cellular responses, and potential therapeutic effects under defined laboratory conditions.

Changes in the intracellular calcium levels in the podocytes are one of the most important means to control the filtration function of glomeruli. Here we explain a high-throughput approach that allows detection of real-time calcium handling and single ion channels activity in the podocytes of the freshly isolated glomeruli.

Source: Yong P. Chen, PhD, Department of Physics & Astronomy, College of Science, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN This experiment will use inductive coils to demonstrate the concept of inductor and inductance. Magnetic induction will be demonstrated using a rod magnet inserted into or extracted away from the core of a coil to induce a transient electromotive force (emf) voltage in the coil, measured by a voltmeter. This experiment will also demonstrate the mutual inductance between...

University of Notre Dame, IN The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals ("The Guide") states that pain assessment and alleviation are integral components of the veterinary care of laboratory animals. The definition of anesthesia is the loss of feeling or sensation. It is a dynamic event involving changes in anesthetic depth with respect to an animal's metabolism, surgical stimulation, or variations in the...

Organ Conditioned Medium: Generating Medium from Harvested Organ Cells for Metastatic Cancer Studies
