Immuno-enrichment

Immuno-enrichment is a selective sample-preparation technique that concentrates target molecules, cells, or microorganisms from complex mixtures, improving their detection and analysis. It relies on specific antibody-antigen recognition: antibodies immobilized on magnetic beads or another solid support capture the target, while washing removes unbound matrix components before the target is eluted or analyzed on the support. In analytical chemistry, immuno-enrichment helps isolate low-abundance biomarkers, proteins, peptides, and pathogens for methods such as mass spectrometry, immunoassays, and nucleic-acid testing. By reducing interference and increasing effective target concentration, the method enhances sensitivity, selectivity, and confidence in complex-sample measurements.
