Indium Phosphide Clusters

Indium phosphide clusters are nanoscale aggregates of indium and phosphorus atoms that provide molecular-level models for understanding semiconductor materials. Their properties arise from covalent indium–phosphorus bonding, finite-size effects, and surface atoms or ligands that alter cluster stability, electronic structure, and light absorption. Studying these clusters helps researchers connect molecular chemistry with the nucleation and growth of larger indium phosphide nanocrystals, including quantum dots. This work supports the design of tunable materials for optoelectronics, light-emitting devices, photodetectors, and solar-energy technologies while clarifying how composition and structure control semiconductor behavior.

Non-fouling PEG silane monolayer was desorbed from individually addressable ITO electrodes on glass by application of a reductive potential. Electrochemical stripping of PEG-silane layer from ITO microelectrodes allowed for cell adhesion to take place in a spatially defined fashion, with cellular patterns corresponding closely to electrode patterns.

Fabrication of a Solution-gated Indium-Tin-Oxide-based One-piece Transistor Enabling Sensitive Biosensing

2025

This protocol describes the fabrication of a one-piece indium-tin-oxide (ITO)-based ion-sensitive field-effect transistor (ISFET), which can be constructed as a solution-gated FET sensor (e.g., pH sensor) using a short and simple process (approximately half a day). This one-piece ITO-ISFET can also be applied to biosensing.

Spatial Separation of Molecular Conformers and Clusters

We present a technique that allows the spatial separation of different conformers or clusters present in a molecular beam. An electrostatic deflector is used to separate species by their mass-to-dipole moment ratio, leading to the production of gas-phase ensembles of a single conformer or cluster stoichiometry.

In this protocol, the synthesis of Cd-free InP/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) is detailed. InP-based QDs are gaining popularity due to the toxicity of Cd2+ ions that may be released through nanoparticle degradation. After synthesis, QDs are solubilized in water using an amphiphilic polymer for use in biomedical applications.
